Tess MacQueen grew up in Sturbridge, Massachusetts and graduated with a master’s degree from the University of New England’s Physician Assistant program in 2012. After graduation she moved to Ithaca and began working in Cayuga Medical Center’s Emergency Department and Convenient Care Center. During that time she became experienced in the recognition and treatment of many medical and surgical emergencies, and developed a passion for the treatment of dermatologic conditions. Much of her time was spent treating dermatologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis, skin infections and the cutaneous manifestations of systemic illnesses, as well as in complex laceration repairs including of the face. Like all of our PA’s, Tess brings a personal approach to patient care; her patients benefit from her friendly demeanor and dedication to improving their skin problems.
Tess is currently a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. She attended a recent conference in Philadelphia where she focused on rashes in the returning traveler. She keeps up with the most recent advances in dermatology by attending the American Academy of Dermatology’s annual conferences.
Tess spent a month volunteering in a rural clinic of Southern Belize. It was there she developed a special interest in travel and wilderness medicine. After her time in Belize she became certified in Advanced Wilderness Life Support (WALS).
In her spare time, Tess enjoys scuba diving, kayaking, yoga, and hiking around the Finger Lakes with her young family.
