Catherine Thompson

Catherine Thompson grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Majoring in Spanish, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was inducted into the Sigma Delta Pi Spanish National Honors Society. She participated in many extracurricular activities, including intramural soccer and UNC club field hockey. Catherine was also a member of a national service organization and studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain.

Following graduation, she volunteered on a Global Medical Training mission trip to Panama, setting up clinics in underserved areas. Catherine held positions as a medical assistant and dialysis technician in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Denver, Colorado. She returned to North Carolina to attend the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program.

Catherine was drawn to Dermatology for its combination of medical and surgical skills, as well as the opportunity to care for patients of all ages. Her professional affiliations include the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA), and the Katherine Anderson Society of the Student Academy of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (SAAAPA).

Catherine loves to travel and explore new places. Her interests also include art, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends. She has been involved with the Junior League since 2014 and has especially enjoyed her volunteer work on various committees involving women's health and childhood literacy.
